OUR FEATURED SPEAKER – MISTY!
“DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!”
Misty
“I always dig. I cant help it. I ask adults, “so what do you want to be/do when you grow up?” Why aren’t you that? Who, but you is stopping you? Why live your whole life wanting something, and spend none of your life achieving it? Because its hard? Really? Too hard to be a millionaire, to buy your momma that house, to go to that island you want to see, to put your kids in the best schools? Or is it because you’re tired? Tired? Really? To tired to drive that car, sail on that yacht, adopt that child, build that center, own that business? You wouldn’t give up a few hours or
sleep for that. You wouldn’t sit in a library and do research for that. You wouldn’t go to a seminar to learn how to get that? So you don’t really want it? What you would like is for someone to come and give it to you while you sit on the couch and watch tv! I challenge you to tell me the one thing in the world you want to be, the one place you want to go, the thing you most want to have and I’ll show you how. If its not physically impossible, or illegal what could be TOO of anything to keep you from being you. (Some illegal things can become possible as well, the constitution has been changed many times. Many advocates have made what was legally impossible – possible, because it was important to them). What is important to you? Don’t just sleep on your dream.
“WE TAKE THE WORD DREAM TOO LITERALLY.
WE THINK DREAMS CAN ONLY BE HAD IN OUR SLEEP.”
“Misty Wilks is an attorney, community activist, and broadcast personality. She's come out of Los Angeles, where she worked with Black/Hispanic issues, is passionate about youth empowerment, has worked in business, personal injury, and entertainment law, and now divides her time between working in California and the D.C. metro area.

Her approach is a sort of common-sense, "what the heck?” reality-check type of commentary. She's a total people person, and a fighter for the underdog, but at the same time, can play devil's advocate to get the conversation balanced. She has a large network of amazing people in their own right, and [is] a fantastic person to [start] local and national discussions [on] issues relating to "who we are and where we are going" topics. Think Oprah on Espresso”.
